Fantastic new piece from my fellow Ravensbourne alumni Yurika Mitsumori - 'Deep Sea Girl'. Firing on all cylinders Yurika, well done!

Gravity

I forgot to post this up here when I first saw it, however i've watched it several times since so it's worth sharing in the event you haven't checked it yet. The next film from Alfonso Cauron, the visionary director responsible for the excellent Children Of Men - which I rate as almost a masterpiece. It's certainly a vividly realised, original and unique film with so many memorable scenes and aspects. His new movie looks about as far away from Children of Men as it seems possible - but it looks just as awe-inspiring and thrilling. The effects alone look like nothing i've quite seen before. Be sure to watch in full-screen 1080p for maximum vertigo-inducing effect...

ISS graffiti

Graffiti and street art goes orbital - with the well-known American artist Shepard Fairey being asked to design a logo/patch for an upcoming mission to the International Space Station. What a buzz for a street artist to have artwork in space - brings a whole new meaning to the phrase 'getting up'. He's done a cracking job too, using a nice simple colour pallete that moves away from the traditional blues/reds/whites. Reminds me somewhat of fellow graffiti enthusiast James Powderly getting his art and design projects onto Mars...

Rob Ager

Through spending far too many hours stumbling through YouTube i've recently discovered the work of Rob Ager, a film maker and analyst who has uploaded countless videos looking into aspects of popular movies. Often concentrating hidden messages and obscure or alternative meaning, his in-depth analysis of films such as A Clockwork Orange, High Plains Drifter, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Starship Troopers offer insightful theories about aspects of these films that one might never have noticed or considered. He's done LOADS of them and they're all super-interesting, they've certainly made me go back a re-watch some of the films he's looked at from a new perspective. He's also made a few short films - you can find out more about this guy at his website Collative Learning, or via his YouTube channels robag88 and robag555.
